Alice A. Hallam, 82, of Kalamazoo, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo. She was born July 26, 1943 in Farmington Hills, Michigan. At the age of 2 years old, she and her mother moved to Villa Saint Anthony in Comstock where Alice interacted with and learned from a number of priests and nuns of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She graduated from Nazareth High School in 1961 with high honors. She was awarded a full ride scholarship to Western Michigan University, but she turned it down to devote herself to being a wife, mother and homemaker. Alice was united in marriage to Barry Hallam in 1969. She excelled as a homemaker and took pride in keeping her home neat and tidy and taking great care of her husband and children. In addition to her family, Alice was a friend to all. People loved her and she loved them and was a trusted confidant to many.
Alice is survived by her husband of 56 years, Barry Hallam; three sons, Matthew (Tara) Hallam, Barry Hallam, and Andrew Hallam; three grandchildren, Brysen Beals, Amanda and Andrew; great grandchildren, Maddox Beals and two great grandchildren living out of state; brother-in-law, Dan (Patti) Lawrence; nephews, Sean (Jill) Cole and their son, Noah; Dale and John Paul; and a niece, Amanda. She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Evanson, two sons, Jason Hallam and Michael Hallam and her niece, Danelle.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Adams-Redmond-Parchment Funeral Home, 2300 E. G Avenue, Parchment, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 E. D Avenue, Augusta, MI, 49012. A luncheon will follow. She will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution in her memory, the family suggests Kairos Dwelling or the Congregation of St. Joseph.
