Arun Jaydev Dave
Passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2026 at the age of 94. She was born on October 10, 1931, the youngest child of Kantilal and Satyavati Avashia. She spent her early years in Nagpur, where a foundation of curiosity, discipline, and compassion was formed.
Arun pursued higher education at Nagpur University, earning a degree in Home Science. With a deep commitment to learning and mentorship, she went on to teach Home Science at LAD College, her Alma Mater, where she inspired generations of students with both knowledge and integrity. Alongside an academic career, Arun proudly served in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) ultimately attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, a reflection of her leadership and dedication to service.
In 1965 Arun met and married Jaydev, beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in love, respect, and shared purpose. Together, they built a warm and supportive home, raising a family that remains her lasting legacy.
Arun loved literature and was a voracious reader with regular weekly trips to the library, returning with bags full of books which she read with great enthusiasm. She was also extensively well-travelled as she accompanied her husband on trips across continents of the Americas, Australia & New Zealand, Europe, and Asia, to countries notably including North Korea, Uzbekistan, and the former East Germany, among many others.
Arun is survived by her sons Gaurav (Vipra) Dave of Kalamazoo, MI and Malay (Katyayani) Dave of Alpharetta, GA; her granddaughters, Keshavi and Nitya, who will remember her for her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering guidance. Arun was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three older siblings.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Arun will be remembered for a life lived with quiet dignity, a strong sense of duty, and a genuine care for others. Arun’s influence will continue to be felt in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In honor of Arun’s enduring spirit of generosity and service, the family kindly suggests donations in lieu of flowers.
