Benny Aukerman, 68, of Kalamazoo, passed away on April 22, 2026. He was born on November 19, 1957, in Kalamazoo, the beloved son of the late Willard and Barbara (Heighton) Aukerman.
Benny’s heart remained full with love for his surviving family. He is dearly missed by his devoted wife, Karen (Warren) Aukerman, who stood by his side through life’s many adventures.
A proud and loving father, Benny is survived by his daughter, Dana (Chad Tassell) Blanton, and his son, Tyler (Hailie) Aukerman, his brother Dave (Debra) Aukerman, sister Brenda (Chet) Roe. He was a doting grandfather to his two grandchildren, Easton "Bud" Blanton and Bentlee "Grandpa's Big Boy" Aukerman, he is also survived by his mother-in-law, Hazel Warren, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Benny was preceded in death by his brothers, Ricky and Robert Aukerman, sister, Dianne Deem, son-in-law, Timmy Blanton and father-in-law Stanley Warren.
Benny's family was his world, and he delighted in sharing stories, photographs, and laughter with them, especially treasuring the daily photos of his grandson Bentlee.
Benny was a man of many passions. An avid sports enthusiast, he was often found cheering for his favorite teams—the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings. He also harbored a deep love for NASCAR, which provided countless hours of joy and excitement. "Raise hell, praise Dale"
However, it was on the greens of various golf courses that Benny found true contentment. He worked at many throughout his life, most notably at Milham Park Golf Course, where he combined his love for the game with a career.
Music was another of Benny’s great loves, and he took pleasure in sharing his favorite tunes with family and friends. He was known for his sense of humor, Benny was a man who loved to make others smile. His playful nature and knack for telling jokes made him a beloved figure among all who knew him. He had a way of picking on people with love, leaving them with laughter that echoed long after his words were spoken.
Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Adams - Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo.
Benny's life will be celebrated on May 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Adams - Redmond Funeral Home, located at 4100 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Comstock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
