Cherri R. Vine

Cherri R. Vine, 58, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2026 at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo after a lengthy illness. She was born January 6, 1968 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Larry Hoffman and Paulette Burks. She was adopted and raised by Ronald and Willie Edgar. Cherri was a graduate of Galesburg High School and worked as a retail merchandiser at various places in the Kalamazoo area. She found joy in the simple things in life—she was an avid reader and especially loved a good mystery, enjoyed painting ceramics, and had a special love for country music, particularly Luke Bryan. Above all, she adored her beloved pets and cherished her family.

Cherri is survived by her husband, Frederick C. Vine; four children, Kristen (Phillip) Brown, Jonathan Schuyler, Frederick S. Vine, and Charles Vine; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Gracyn, John Luke, Kennedy, Lilyana, Vanessa, Charlie, and Calvin; four siblings, Christopher Edgar, Katrina Towns, Victoria Riddle, and Carrie Belt. She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Larry and Paulette, her adoptive parents, Ronald and Willie, and her sister, Jennifer Walls.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life is being planned for a later date.
