Edward J. Siwik

Edward Jacob (“Ed”) Siwik passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 86, in his hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he was born on March 23, 1940.

Ed is preceded in death by beloved wife of 37 years, Joan E. (“Joani”) Siwik; his parents, John and Frieda Siwik; and his two brothers John Jr. and Robert. He is survived by his two daughters, Christine (m. Andrea) and Pam, many dear life-long friends including Rich & Carol (deceased) Howard and Roy & Sandy Howard, long-time friend and companion Sandy Mastromatteo, and countless others who will deeply miss “Uncle Eddy.”

Ed was a life-long resident of Kalamazoo, attending St. Mary’s grammar school and St. Augustine high school, before his college studies at Ferris State. He spent his entire career at Durametallic (now Flowserve), and his work took him to numerous countries throughout the world over those decades.

Ed married the love of his life, Joani, in June 1966. They lived their wedding vows every day of their 37-year marriage – seeing each other through the good times and bad, in sickness and in health. Their dedication to one another was an inspiration. After welcoming their daughters, Ed became a quintessential “girl dad,” coaching teams, helping with homework, attending volleyball and softball games, and encouraging his girls to find joy in the world. He was a wonderful father and will be deeply missed.

Years after the passing of his wife, Ed was blessed with a new community of friends where he met Sandy. She brought new joy to his life, and the two of them enjoyed several years of fun and travel together.

Those close to Ed will remember him as a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. A kind man with a generous spirit and big heart. Someone who was quick to help or offer a good word. Someone with an infectious laugh…and a cold beer ready for anyone who wanted to hang out in the driveway.

A visitation will be held at Adams-Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49008, on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine Cathedral, 542 W. Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49007, followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held at 12:00 PM at Louie’s Trophy House, 629 Walbridge St., Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49007.
