Isaiah Marcellus Vaughn, 33, of Kalamazoo, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Isaiah was born February 19, 1992 in Ann Arbor with a rare genetic disorder called Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, which caused severe physical and intellectual disabilities. He was adopted by Janice Davis Putman at the age of three weeks old. She provided constant care for Isaiah throughout his life. Despite his physical and cognitive challenges, Isaiah was able to communicate in his own way. He was very attached to his mother and his other brother with special needs, Brandon. Isaiah loved Gospel music and loved when people clapped and played with him. He had a great sense of humor and laughed and loved pranks.
Isaiah is survived by his mother, Janice Putman, of Kalamazoo; seven siblings, Bobby (Natalie) Blakely of Georgia, Sharese (Alberto) Almendarez of Texas, Shannon (Danielle) Blakely of Wisconsin, David (Lydia) Vaughn of Battle Creek, Brandon Vaughn of Kalamazoo, Alizaye (Rontay) Scott of Kalamazoo and Praionna Peterson of Kalamazoo; many aunties, uncles and cousins, including special cousin, Isaac Holloway of Kalamazoo.
Cremation has taken place and Isaiah’s family will have a private gathering at the family home.
