James A. Ringler

James A. Ringler, 78, of Portage, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 19, 2025 at his home. Jim was born June 13, 1946 in Grand Rapids, the son of Ralph and Wilma (Crose) Ringler. On June 16, 1972, Jim was united in marriage to the former Linda Rich at the First Assembly of God on Lovers Lane. He was employed by Kalamazoo College for 28 years, retiring in 2012. Jim enjoyed fishing with his boys, Steve and Darren, and he and Steve also enjoyed hunting. Above all, Jim was a family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren, along with his extended family and Linda’s family. He lived his life anxiously awaiting the return of Christ, and as sad as they are to lose him, his family celebrates his homecoming in heaven.

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Ringler of Portage; two sons, Steven (Laura) Ringler of Kalamazoo and Darren (Tiffany) Ringler of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren, Austin, Macey, Hunter, Ari and Josh; four siblings, Linda (Joe) Schanz, Scott (Terese) Ringler, Robin (Dana) Perry and Julie Sutherland; sister-in-law, Rose Ringler; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Tom and Leonard Ringler.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Valley Family Church, 2500 Vincent Ave., Portage, MI 49024.
