Jerry G. Steger, age 81, of Oshkosh, WI, passed away on April 16, 2026.

Born on Sunday, March 18, 1945 in Kalamazoo, MI he was the beloved son of George and Josephine Steger. He lived a life grounded in faith, purpose and quiet strength. A devout Catholic, Jerry found great comfort in prayer and the rosary, carrying his faith with him each day. Guided by his faith in God, he prayed daily to the Blessed Mother, for whom he held a deep and personal reverence. His belief shaped how he lived, how he loved, and how he showed up for others - with humility, kindness and a spirit of service.

Jerry graduated from St. Augustine High School (now Hackett Catholic Prep), where his athleticism would later earn him induction into the school's Hall of Fame in 2005. Jerry dutifully served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, a Vietnam Combat Veteran with 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, Delta Company and later with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, Lima Co. He later served his community as a Sergeant with the Kalamazoo Township Police Dept. and prodigiously sold "ink on paper" for forty plus years.

Known to many as "Bear", Jerry had a lifelong passion of sports and an impressive knowledge of statistics. He was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Notre Dame football. He was always aware, engaged and tenacious in character. Anyone who met Jerry remembered him. He lived an authentic life, and his jovial voice and unmistakable presence left a lasting impression.

He was a devoted husband to Paula, a loving father to Angela and Michael, and a supportive stepfather to Andy, Amy, Matt and Kate. He was a proud and beloved "Papa Bear" to Luke and Josh, and a kind grandfather to his step-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy. His presence brought steadiness and warmth to those around him, and his wisdom, faith and quiet strength will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Paula; his children, Angela (Rob) and Michael (MyHoa); his stepchildren Andy, Amy, Matt and Kate; his grandsons Luke and Josh; his step-grandchildren; his brother, Terry; and extended family who will carry his memory forward with love.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 30, at Adams-Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. The family finds peace in knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord, reunited with those who have gone before him.
