Lance H. Conrad

Lance Hugh Conrad, born November 18, 1939, passed away peacefully at StoryPoint, on September 11, 2026, at the age of 86. Lance is the son of Raymond & Virginia Conrad. Born in West Virginia, he later moved to Michigan and attended Lawrence Tech Institute, graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice. Lance then met his first wife Sylvia Marie (Huhn) Conrad and had four children (one deceased at birth). After the death of Sylvia in August of 2005, Lance went on to marry his second wife Mary Lou Petrulio in June of 2007.

After a fulfilling career with the U.S Treasury Department, Lance retired but kept busy with volunteer work and various hobbies. Lance was a long-time volunteer for the Portage Police Department, the Gilmore Car Museum, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In his free time, Lance enjoyed building model boats, woodworking, reading, traveling, and driving his Model A car. He also participated in various clubs associated with his hobbies.

Lance is survived by his three daughters Sherri (John) VandenHombergh, April (Mark) Whitaker, and Christine (Victor) Colon, as well as four grandchildren, Jacob and Sidney VandenHombergh and Benjamin and Sarah Whitaker.

Dad, you were a loving and caring father who was always there to support our dreams and guide and protect us through our different journeys in life. We will miss you greatly, but hope that you are finally at peace and have reunited with mom and Marylou in heaven. You will never be forgotten! We love you!

In keeping with Lance’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Portage South Cemetery.
