Laura V. Hoogerheide

Laura V. Hoogerheide, 101, of Kalamazoo, passed away shortly before midnight on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Sue’s Loving Care in Kalamazoo. Laura was born October 7, 1924 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Paul and Marion (Dugo) Barone. She was a graduate of St. Augustine High School. Laura was united in marriage to Joseph Hoogerheide who preceded her in death in 1990. She worked in alterations for Kalamazoo Pant and Overall Company (known for the Kazoo Pant) and was also an active volunteer at Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Augustine Cathedral and in later years became a member of St. Ambrose Parish in Parchment.

Laura is survived by two children, Tom Hoogerheide and Marianne Wiersma; two grandchildren, Michael Wiersma and Keri (Matt) Berry; two great grandchildren, Maxwell and Khloe Berry; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph, and seven siblings, Grace (Don) Makela, Agatha Barone, Necessia (Bob) Crotty, Mary (Fritz) Peeters, Vince (Sandy) Barone, Frank (Kate) Barone and Samuel (Norma) Barone.

Family and friends are welcome to gather from 4 – 5 PM Friday, February 20, 2026 at Adams-Redmond-Parchment Funeral Home, 2300 E. G Avenue, Parchment, where the Rosary will be recited at 5 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, February 21, 2026 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Msgr. Mike Hazard, Celebrant. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Sue’s Loving Care.
