Leonard Diamond, age 82 of Portage

With profound sadness, we mark the passing of Leonard (Len) Diamond, a resident of Portage, at the age of 82, on May 1, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Leonard was the son of the late Phillip and Minnie (Pritikin) Diamond. His early life and formative years were spent on Chicago's north side. In 1970, a significant chapter unfolded with his marriage to Sorella Sell, leading them to establish their home in Palatine, Illinois.

Throughout his life, Leonard pursued various endeavors in sales before his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish and helm Greatway Construction. A devoted baseball enthusiast, he held a particular fondness for the Boston Red Sox and their legendary left fielder, Ted Williams. The 1990s saw Leonard embark on a new passion, dealing in antiques at markets across the Midwest, including notable fairs in Illinois, Michigan, and Shipshewana, Indiana. This pursuit culminated in the opening of his own store in Three Rivers, Michigan.

In 1998, Leonard and Sorella embraced the community of Portage, Michigan, where they found much joy. Among his treasured possessions was a notable collection of art glass lamps. Known for his quick wit and engaging sense of humor, Leonard delighted in sharing a good joke.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sorella, on April 21, 2023, and his parents, Phillip and Minnie Diamond. Leonard is survived by his loving son, David (Jamie) Diamond of Marengo, Illinois.

Following cremation, a committal service for the interment of cremains will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Portage Central Cemetery, with Fr.
