Louis P. Kostakis, 94, of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully Monday, December 15, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Louie was born February 16, 1931, in Kalamazoo, the son of Peter and Demitra (Skoubes) Kostakis. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. Louie was united in marriage to the former Jacquelyn Minor, with whom he shared 73 years of marriage. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned three different businesses in Kalamazoo over the years which included Louie’s News and Pipe Shop downtown on the Kalamazoo Mall, Louie’s on Maple Hill Mall and Greco’s Restaurant, also on Maple Hill Mall. Louie belonged to various local organizations over the years, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with playing paddleball and golf.

Louie is survived by his wife of 73 years, Jacquelyn; and two daughters, Leslie (David) Deluhery and Elizabeth Kostakis. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jim, Tom and George Kostakis.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park at a later date. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution in his memory, the family suggests the American Heart Association.
