Michael L. Reilly

Michael L. Reilly, age 76, of Kalamazoo passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19th, 2025 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.

Mike was born March 24, 1949 at Borgess hospital. He was adopted by Jack and Dorothy Reilly as an infant and was the eldest of five sons.

He graduated from Hackett Catholic High School in 1969 and was employed at the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital from 1973 until his retirement in 2002. While there, he served as president of the AFSCME Union for 20 years. Mike loved sports and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, backgammon. Mike was a loving and kind and was always ready to help others. He was a dependable volunteer at his church’s Food Pantry for over four years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers: John, Thomas, and James.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie; son, Justin (Maria), of Kalamazoo; son, Jeremy, of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Katie Reigstad (Lucas) of Chicago; son, Nolan Johncock, of Kalamazoo; brother, Robert Reilly ( Holly), of Battle Creek; sister, Peggy Rasch, of Grand Rapids; sister-in-law, Kris Denaway-Reilly, of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Benjamin Reilly and Natalie Reilly; stepchildren, David Baldon of Ludington; Alex Baldon (Yingji) of Dallas TX; Ryan Baldon (Macy) of Augusta GA; step grandchildren, Emberlynn, Kaedyn, Arya, Miles, Ivy, Irene and Iona Baldon, plus several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Milwood United Methodist Church, located at 3919 Portage St, Kalamazoo, MI 49001, on January 10th at 11:00 am with a lunch following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Rose Arbor Hospice of Kalamazoo.
