Sue Fletcher

Ethel “Sue” Fletcher, 81, of Kalamazoo passed away Friday, January 23, 2026 at her home. Sue was born March 24, 1944 in Hillsdale, Michigan, the daughter of David and Beth (Marsh) Elliott. She was a graduate of Hillsdale High School and went on to nursing school to earn her LPN license. In 1963, she was united in marriage to Richard Fletcher. Sue created a loving home for her husband and four children and welcomed everyone into her home with her gracious and generous spirit. Their home was open to all the kids’ friends and neighbor children, and she was considered an adopted mother to many. Her love for children carried over into her profession as a nurse in pediatric medicine, retiring from nursing in 2002. Her Christian faith was deeply important to her and was a member of New Day Community Church in Kalamazoo. Sue was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed.

Sue is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard; four children, Beth (Dan) Cyr, Brian (Lori) Fletcher, Brenda (Michael) Perez and Robert (Tara) Fletcher; 15 grandchildren, Lacey (Brian) Eckert, Jordan Cyr, Lindsay (Nathan) Punt, James (Sarah) Cyr, Lily (Victor) Serrano, Roric (Sarah) Cyr, David Fletcher, Nathan Fletcher, Elizabeth Fletcher, Jared (Katherine) Perez, Jason (Isabel) Perez, Jenna Perez, Isaac Fletcher, Jacinda Fletcher, and Robert Fletcher; six great grandchildren; nephew James (Janet) Benson and family; niece Jean Zenner and family, along with close friends, Diane & Russ Lindauer and Kathy & Ray Spaulding and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Kay, Anne and Burr.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 10 - 11 AM at New Day Community Church, 3600 Nichols Road, Kalamazoo, where a memorial service will be held at 11 AM. For those wishing to make a contribution in her memory, the family suggests New Day Community Church.
